Michael Aubrecht is an award-winning author, historian, drum journalist, documentary film producer and musician with over 25 years of playing experience. He primarily writes and records drums and sampling tracks for the experimental group Question Everything (?E). Michael has also provided loops and replicated video drumming and film performance for composer/filmmaker Attila Domos. Michael’s diverse drumming background spans marching, symphonic, percussion ensemble and stage bands.
A finalist for the 2013 International Book Awards, Michael has written nine published books to date. He has also contributed essays and articles to over a dozen magazines and periodicals including Drumhead and Modern Drummer.
Michael also co-authored the award-winning drum theory book FUNdamentalsTM of Drumming for Kids (w/ Rich Redmond) which one “Best in Show” at the 2014 Summer NAMM and is an Amazon Best-Seller in four countries. The book is now being used as curriculum in private and classroom settings around the world.
Michael has produced four documentary films including “Sustainability Takes Center Stage” which was shot at the Nashville House of Blues and presented green-practices of environmentally-friendly drum manufactures. As a historian and music educator, Michael routinely lectures at universities, theaters, libraries and museums. He also provides online drum lessons via Skype to students and classrooms.
