For Jonathan Ramsey, music is not just a past time or just a paid gig, music flows through his veins and drumming is the beat of his heart. His musical style expresses his passion and could be described as open and to the kill with musical affluence in genres such as Gospel, R&B and Pop.
Born in St. Louis Missouri Jon Ramsey discovered his purpose at age 3 when he picked up his first drum sticks and struck the snare while sitting on his fathers knee, renowned bass player Butch Ramsey Sr., who was a drummer at the time. From that day forth Jon Ramsey and drums were inseparable. Developing his gift with pure passion and no musical lessons, Jon landed his first musical debut at age 8 playing in church. At age 16 he began to play in entertainment venues and night clubs as well as collaborating, performing and recording with various artists.
Growing up Jon Ramsey had musical influences such as his uncle Jeremy Haynes, Joey Oscar, Robb Woody, Kevin Kelly & God brother & mentor Eddie Heyward, with inspiration from these men and musical legends before them he has been able to infuse his personal style to create a sound that is undeniably dissimilar.
To date Jon Ramsey has shared the stage with highly acclaimed artists of various music genres such as CeCe Winans, Lamar Campbell, Darrell and LaTonja Blair, Aaron Lindsey, Rickey Dillard, Josiah Martin, John Legend, Common, LaToya Lucket, and Karisma Evans, Thomas & Hall. Currently Jon is working in the studio with “Hatch”. You can catch him on tour this coming fall!!
