Lamorris “Beatdown” King was born in Madison, GA, raised in Atlanta, GA and has always had a passion for music. When his father, Vincent King, was young he played drums, bass, and guitar for his family band. His uncles and cousins all played a variety of instruments, so Beatdown’s gift came natural and was instilled in him before birth.
Later on at the age of 16 he became a member of (Creflo Dollar Ministries) World Changers International Church and was noticed by one of the musicians of the church and was asked to join the youth church band. Lamorris began to play for the church’s Mass Choir, Children’s’ Choir, Teenage Praise Team, Canton Jones, Generation J, and Ziklag. Being under the guidance and teaching of internationally known drummer Chris Coleman, he was pruned into the very professional musician he is today. Thus the name Beatdown was born.
Over the course of the last ten years Beatdown has been playing for local secular artists and bands such as Claudette “The Blues Queen” King (daughter of Blues Legend B.B. King), Larry Blackman, Edsel Robinson and Nathan Leftenant from Cameo, Complete Desire Corporate Band, The Contagious Band, Kevin “Oz” Osbourne from Jamaica Funk Album, Zay Williams from Arrested Development, Randy Skinner, Theophilus “Chip” Glass and friends from Parliament Funkadelic, Darryl “Wiz” Rouse from S.O.S Band , Keri ”Coco” Jones, Kelly Love Jones, Gritz and Jelly Butter and just to name a few.
Recently Beatdown has performed on a reggae recording with “Wade in the Rhythm” and a hip hop album with local artist known as “Deacon”. At the present time Beatdown is in the studio recording and performing with quite a few new upcoming artists of various genres. In January 2011 Beatdown established his own band “X-Quizit 360” which will be recording later this year . He has made a name for himself and created a buzz all around the Atlanta and surrounding areas as one of the most talented and desired professional drummers on the scene.
Also be on the lookout for Beatdown’s solo project “Revelations” in 2014.
