His talent for rhythm was first noted by his parents who saw that he could keep a steady beat with spoons at the age of 4. At the age of 6 he taught himself how to play the drums at his dad’s church “Templo Betania” in the city of Tampico, Tamaulipas in Mexico. He didn’t develop his drumming skills till he moved to the United States in 1997 when he started playing as a backup drummer at Templo Bethel in Pharr, TX. After becoming the main drummer at Templo Bethel, he decided to leave his family and moved to the state of Arkansas in 1999 to help with the worship team at the also named Templo Bethel in the city of Fayetteville. In January of 2008 he decided to become a member of Cross Church – Pinnacle Hills (formerly called The Church at Pinnacle Hills), where he became the backup drummer after a few months of attending the church, and as of today he serves as the main drummer at the mega church, located in the Pinnacle Hills area in the city of Rogers, AR.
Miguel bought his first drum set in the summer of 2006
He started playing professionally in the Northwest Arkansas area in 2006 with the local Latin band “Neta”. After a few connections he started playing with indie band “The American Years” till 2007. In the fall of ’07 he became the drummer for local favorite party band Boom! Kinetic (formerly known as Molten Lava).
It was with Boom! Kinetic where he became friends and started drumming for country artist Barret Baber.
In 2014 Barret Baber and his band traveled to Los Angeles after winning the CBS Surface Grammy Gig of a Lifetime contest, where they recorded several TV spots for Microsoft and performed to a sold out crowd at club Nokia on Grammy week.
