Phillip Butler III

Phillip ButlerPhillip Butler III – Drummer Phillip Butler III is a Chicago native, born February 17th, coming from a family full of singers, musicians, and preachers. Growing up in Minneapolis, MN at 11 years old Phillip found a open opportunity to play drums at a night service at his home church Yahweh Church Of God In Christ. From then on there was a hunger for Phillip to continue playing.

As a young musician in training Phillip found his passion and started working on his craft, from listening to gospel drummers around the Twin Cities area. In August 1999, The Butler family left Minnesota moved to St. Joseph, MO., 45 minutes north of Kansas City. Throughout these early years, Phillip didn’t realized the true, rich, God given talent he had until he went through some hardships in life. Through the rain & storm Phillip looked up to God & music for his escape, his refuge, his comfort in the time of storms.

By his sophomore year in high school Phillip received a phone call from band teacher, Mr. Dennis Schelnicht, to encourage Phillip to join the Lafayette High School Marching, Jazz, Concert & pep band. While in High School, Phillip’s biggest accomplishment was learning how to read music and understanding the art of music and the language of playing Percussion.
