Ray Blanco; drummer for Good Knives & tb5 (The Bangkok Five)
Musician, Songwriter, Producer, Entrepreneur. Ray Blanco was in a band by the 6th grade and independently booking local concert events & national tours before graduating. His first band Countervail signed a record deal out of high school and played over 100 shows a year through 1997. During this time he also began producing films and music videos for Zethro Films & D3 Entertainment. Excessive touring with FAR inspired Blanco to create VB Management; a 1-stop artist management firm which kept his artists producing music and on tour with merchandise. In 1999, Blanco combined all of his expertise into his newest project, Home Town Hero, and soon inked a multi-million dollar major label recording and licensing deal (WarnerBros/Maverick, WarnerChappell)
Not content with only one avenue of creation, Ray Blanco was now in a position to explore other options for outlet and investment. Partnering with director Derek Dale to establish Generator Productions, Ray Blanco adapted from 35MM film projects to new era digital media with award winning music videos appearing on MTV, FUSE, MUCH, etc.
After parting ways with Home Town Hero in April of 2003, Blanco auditioned for what become Fader, voted best band in LA 2004 and received an endorsement deal with Gibson Guitars. Blanco created music with different musicians and producers until settling back into a band situation with The Bangkok Five. In late 2005 and would go on to release records with Universal and Sony Records while continuing to tour the world. Members of the band, including Blanco created The Bangkok Five Custom Music Company and were hired to write custom music for commercial and films. Ray Blanco and 2 members also founded Indiemedia, Inc, the forward thinking software business revenue solutions for artist such as; Michael Jackson, Backstreet Boys & Rob Thomas.
Ray Blanco expanded internationally when he partnered with Shane Hall on property and business ventures which would include Costa Rica’s reputable rock and roll beach bar and restaurant in Esterillos Oeste, LowTide Lounge . LowTide Lounge most recently opened it’s second location in Jaco and is the company is positioned to expand into a hotel and beyond.
Returning to the United States after living 2 years in Costa Rica, Blanco recorded drums for White Witch, the new album from The Bangkok Five. In 2013, Blanco partnered with DJ ASRA to host Baptized By Fire, a weekly music TV|Radio showcasing local music and interviewing artist such as: Body Count, Powerman 5000 & Twiggy Ramirez.
Ray Blanco currently plays drums for Pleasure Burn, The Bangkok Five & Good Knives and can also be found touring with Black Map.
